no strawberries today.i made my way through the rows of the fruit section. a large row full of bananas, one with apples, then the peppers and carrots. the whole bustling area was surrounded on both sides with the vegetables that occasionally get an overhead spray of water mist.
i was interested in strawberries today, and i could see stacks of clear plastic containers filled with red as i approached. i found a box full of nice large sized berries. as usual, i turned it over to check the bottom for spoilage.
it's a good thing i did, because this box had quite a lot of mush on the bottom, with a small amount of mould! i checked another and found the same thing. i soon discovered the whole lot was quite spoiled.
i winced, looking around for something else to get instead. then i saw jared, the store manager, walking through some of the crowd.
